Nicholas Frost (c.1589-1663) and his family sailed 1636 from England to Piscataqua, which back then was a group of early English settlements around the natural harbor at mouth of the Piscataqua River Estuary. They settled at Sturgeon Creek, a tributary of the Piscataqua, near Kittery in what is now Eliot in York County, Maine. Here Nicholas in 1640 and 1641 held the office of constable, then in 1652 the office of selectman. He died on July 20, 1663 at the age of 74 years. A son of his who came with him from England was Charles Frost (1631-1697), who was born on July 30th, 1631 in Tiverton, Chesire, and became known as Major Charles Frost when he took command of a garrison that the Frost Family built at Eliot. Charles was killed on Sunday, July 4th, 1697 by Indians at Ambush Rock, a site just outside the Eliot garrison. Charles and his father are the immigrant ancestors of the Frost Family lineage that follows.
John Frost (1682-1732) was the son of Major Charles Frost (1631-1697), and Charles' wife Mary Bowles (1641-1704), of Wells, York County, Maine. Their son John was born on March 8, 1682 somewhere in New Hampshire, probably in one of the settlements on the south bank of the Piscataqua River. He married Mary Pepperrell (1685-1766) on Sept. 4, 1702 in New Castle, Maine; and died on Feb. 25, 1732 in New Castle, where he is buried in the Frost Cemetery.
